#1000 VOICES

is part of our campaign to tackle period poverty whilst bridging the gap in Period Education.

#1,000 VOICES is how we empower and give a voice to 1,000 girls to say ‘No’ to all the negativity about periods, take away anxiety and teach them about periods in a positive way. We also give them period starter kits with period essentials that girls coming into puberty can use for up to 14months. The kit has things such as reusable period pants, pads, socks, wash set, bag, The Period Comic etc.

#1000 VOICES

Everyday, a girl comes into puberty and gets her period...

Our goal is to support 1,000 girls in the North East area from May 2023 to April 2024 with the right products and education. Evidence shows that 1 in 10 girls aged 14 to 21 can’t afford menstrual products

A survey by Plan International UK

Plan International UK took responses from 1000 girls in the UK, also found that…

Percentage of girls have had to borrow menstrual products from a friend
14%
Percentage of girls that had to improvise or make do with makeshift menstrual products due to affordability issues.
12%
Percentage of girls that have missed at least one full day of school due to their period
49%
Percentage of girls that said they were unable to pay attention in class
